At Studio Shaolin, we had the pleasure of collaborating with a young couple expecting their first child, to transform their newly acquired residence in Kapaʻa, Kauaʻi, into a warm and functional mid-century modern haven. This comprehensive renovation encompassed the entire home, including three bathrooms, living and dining areas, kitchen, and a thoughtfully designed nursery.

Our clients' appreciation for mid-century modern design guided our approach, focusing on clean lines, natural materials, and functional elegance. We removed existing laminate and carpeted flooring to reveal and refinish the original concrete, enhancing the home's authentic mid-century character. The bathrooms were fully renovated with minimalist fixtures, geometric tile patterns, and warm wood accents, creating cohesive and timeless spaces.

Anticipating the arrival of their baby boy, we designed a nursery that balances mid-century charm with modern comfort. The room features a minimalist crib with clean lines, a vintage-inspired rocking chair, and soft wooden tones, creating a calming environment that aligns with the overall aesthetic of the home. Geometric patterns and muted pastel colors add subtle visual interest, ensuring the space is both stylish and nurturing.

The living and dining areas were furnished to promote relaxation and socialization, incorporating mid-century modern furniture with tapered legs, neutral upholstery, and natural wood finishes. Strategic lighting and thoughtful layouts enhance the home's flow, making it ideal for both everyday living and entertaining guests.
