Affordable Boho Decor

Bohemian or Boho is a blend of styles, textures, materials, and cultures. Taking the reigns of expressing yourself in your decor is what boho is all about. In the article, How to Nail the Bohemian Style in Your Home, Lauren Flanagan suggests “feel free to mix patterns and textures, and don't be afraid to use styles that would not necessarily go together in a conventional way.” Often times it may take years to acquire the right look. Mixing new and vintage pieces are common and encouraged, although it’s possible to achieve the look without spending much at all!

DIY or Thrift

Save some cash and attempt to Do-It-Yourself or check out your local thrift store. The pieces you tend to cherish most are those handmade by you or the treasures you find unexpectedly. Spend a weekend hitting a couple of thrift stores in your area and see what you can find! If you’re up to it, Pinterest and YouTube are excellent free platforms that house tutorials by creatives to teach yourself and get inspired.

Macrame Wall Hangings

Perhaps the most common type of decor piece you’ll see in boho spaces is macrame. This is one of the easiest ways to DIY boho decor. Once you get the hang of making knots, you can create beautiful wall hangings, plant holders, and baskets. If you’re feeling crafty, we suggest following this video: DIY Macrame Wall Hanging from Soulful Notions

Textured Art

Another popular type of artwork that has been hitting the DIY world has been textured art. By using a canvas and drywall mud, you can create an abstract art piece that truly captures that classy boho look. We suggest following this tutorial: 4 Easy Steps to Create Textured Canvas Art for Less Than $60 by A Glass of Bovino.

Amazon

No need for an introduction, the accessibility of finding something on Amazon is nearly endless. Home goods, clothing, accessories, furniture, bedding, bathroom supplies… Amazon has it all. If you’re in a pinch to find boho decor, a quick Amazon search could pull up thousands of options

Etsy

If you can think it, you can probably find someone on Etsy that can make it. In this creative corner of the internet, you can find unique decor items at affordable prices. Each item is handmade by the seller and packed with love. Since many items are made to order, you’re getting a handmade unique piece.

Anthropologie

The website defines its products as “women’s apparel and accessories, intimates, home furniture and décor, beauty and gifts. Each caters to the lifestyle of our five muses: soft & delicate; boho chic; easy cool; elegant classic; and modern sporty.” Anthropologie has been one of our favorite brands when it comes to styling as they always have on-trend items, at reasonable prices and aren’t afraid of color!

Target

Of course, we have to include our favorite, budget-friendly store - Target!  This department store giant has been in Hawaii since 2009 and its popularity has been growing ever since. We’ve been taking advantage of the accessibility of drive-by pickups and shopping on the mobile app to save us some time and (bonus tip) price matching in the app to save some cash!
